What this belt does
On sewing machines with an external motor, the belt carries power from the motor to the machine’s handwheel. A worn, cracked or stretched belt can slip, which makes the machine slow, weak or unable to sew through fabric. Always unplug the machine before removing the old belt or fitting a new one.
