What this foot does
The all-purpose foot, sometimes called a zigzag foot, is the standard foot most domestic machines use every day. Its wide opening lets the needle swing for zigzag and decorative stitches as well as straight stitching. Replace it if the sole is bent, chipped or scratched, because a damaged foot can drag on fabric.
